Single or double cartridge stove?

Last time, we discussed why choosing a gas cartridge stove is beneficial. Today, let’s talk about whether to choose a single-flame or double-flame stove.

Personally, I use a single-flame stove. It suits me well for making morning coffee, preparing pasta for lunch (which waits in one pot until the sauce is ready in the other; I’ve learned to take the pasta off the stove just in time, so it’s perfectly cooked while waiting in hot water), and cooking dinner in a pan (I usually sauté some vegetables). In summer, I eat a lot of fresh vegetables (salads) while traveling, so there’s no need to cook for every meal. Plus, a single-flame stove takes up very little space.

However, if I cooked a lot or traveled with my family, I would choose a double-flame stove, which often includes a grill plate.

In our smaller FLIP Camping Boxes (i.e. for Berlingo, Caddy…), there’s no space for a double-flame stove due to limited space. So, for the chefs among our customers, we recommend purchasing two single stoves. One has a designated space in the FLIP, and the other can be stored elsewhere (like under the bed). This way, you can enjoy a full culinary experience on the road when desired. In bigger FLIPs (for VW T7, Custom…) there is a space for a single or double stove in the boxes!

If you have any questions or need advice on traveling with your camping box, feel free to write to me. I’ll gladly prepare a topic for the next blog post. I’d also love to hear about your experiences with cooking on the road.

Take care,
Irena
